Cleaning and Care of Laminate Countertops

  • Carefully read directions on Any Cleaners to insure compatibility with this product
  • Clean your countertop with a damp sponge or cloth and use a mild soap or detergent. Difficult stains can be removed using a mild household cleaner and a soft bristle brush.
  • Never use cleaners containing bleach or abrasives such as Comet, Ajax cleanser and Soft Scrub.
  • Hair and food dyes can cause permanent stains. Wipe up immediately and rinse several times with water.
  • Never place pots or dishes directly from the oven or burner on unprotected laminate surface; extreme heat can cause cracking or blistering.
  • Use care when using electric heat sources such as kettles, skillets and waffle irons etc.
  • Ceramic and abrasive objects can cause scratching and premature wear.
  • Do not chop, slice or pound on laminate surface. Sharpe utensils may slice and scratch surface and heavy blows can cause surface cracks.
  • Never let fluids pool on laminate surface, especially near seams, water can penetrate the seam causing the substrate to swell.
  • Remember that your countertop is water-resistant not waterproof.
  • It is recommended that seams be sealed with clear silicone after installation.

Cleaning and Care of Laminate Countertops with Wood Edges

  • Clean laminate as above but use mineral oil or butcher block oil to seal the wooden edges of the countertop

Cleaning and Care of Natural Stone Countertops

  • Carefully read directions on all cleaners to insure compatibility with this product.
  • Clean up spills such as wine, fruit juices, coffee and sodas immediately for these can stain your countertop if left to sit for long periods.
  • Cooking oils will stain if not wiped up also.
  • Absorption of stains will depend on the condition of your countertop.
  • Use mild dish soap and water as a cleanser.
  • Wipe down the granite countertops daily and as needed using a soft cloth and warm water.
  • Once a week it is recommended to wipe down the countertop with a damp cloth and a stone cleaner formulated with a neutral pH.
  • The use of harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners can result in scratching, pitting and etching the surface of the stone.
  • The use of trivets and hot pads are recommended to use under hot pots and pans to avoid excessive heat which can cause cracking or pieces to pop out.
  • Do Not use bleaches, glass cleaners and degreasers contain acids that can harm your countertops over time and degrade sealer making stone more prone to staining.
  • For heavily soiled areas use a stone cleaner which will clean, disinfect and protect your countertops.
  • Do not place toiletry products directly on your countertops it is recommended to use trays for protection especially on marble. These products can leave rings and etch the polish.
  • Do not use bathroom, tub and tile or grout cleaners. Even the soft creams have abrasives the will scratch and dull surfaces.

Cleaning and Care of Corian Countertops

  • Please read instructions carefully on all cleaners to insure compatibility with this product.
  • For regular cleaning use a few drops of dish soap in a bucket of warm water.
  • Wipe down countertop with a nonabrasive towel or sponge, rinse thoroughly with warm water and dry with soft cloth to avoid any film from forming.
  • To remove stains spray countertop with an ammonia based cleaner. Using a dry cloth or towel work into the countertop. Rinse well with warm water and then dry with soft cloth or towel. Do not use window cleaner as it will cause the countertops finish to break down.
  • To disinfect the countertop you can use a solution of one part water to one part bleach in a spray bottle. Spray clean and rinse thoroughly with warm water. Dry with soft cloth or towel.
  • To remove hard water stains you can use a limescale remover such as Lime-A-Way or CLR. Apply cleaner according to manufacturer’s instructions. Rinse with warm water and dry with clean cloth or towel.
  • It is recommended to use trivets and pot holders for setting hot pots and pans down to avoid putting extreme heat directly on countertop.
  • Do Not use window cleaner on this product.

Cleaning and Care of Wood Cabinets and Doors

  • Do not use Ammonia based cleaners such as Windex.
  • It is recommended to use a solution of water and a mild soap to clean wood cabinet and doors.
  • Dry water off immediately using a lint free cloth.
  • More difficult stains can be removed by using neutral type weak alkaloid type cleaners.
  • Do not use furniture polish or wax as the wax build up will mar the finish and also attracts dust.

Cleaning and Care of Thermofoil or Laminate Doors

  • Please read all instructions on cleaning products to insure compatibility with this product.
  • Recommended cleaning is wiping with a damp/water-absorbed cloth.
  • More difficult stains can be removed by using neutral type weak alkaloid type cleaners.

Cleaning and Care of Glass or Insert

  • Please read all instructions on cleaning products to insure compatibility with this product.
  • It is not recommended to use ammonia based cleaners for they can damage the surrounding door (Windex is Not recommended).
  • A mild vinegar solution is recommended to clean panels and glass inserts.
  • Any cleaner should be removed immediately using a damp cloth and dried with a soft lint free towel.

Door Adjustments


Adjusting Badly Aligned Doors

1. To change the vertical height. Undo the two adjustable cupboard screws A and B on both hinges. They are usually in slotted holes which mean you can adjust the door up or down by a few mm. Then tighten back up.

2. Adjust the doors left and right slightly by turning the adjusting screw D on Both hinges on each door. doors-badly-aligned-sidetoside

Binding Door

If the door is not closing properly or is making creaking sounds it may be binding on the cupboard frame. Look on the side where the hinges are as you close the door. The door may be touching the cupboard frame as it closes. (Binding). To stop this you need to adjust the door out towards you slightly. Turn screw C to move the door forward away from the frame. If door is not closing properly due to a too much gap between the door and the cupboard turn screw C to close gap between the door and cupboard to about 1mm.


Door Removal

For quick release of door simply pull quick release leaver E just on underside of hinge towards you.

Drawer Removal for Cleaning

Metabox (steel sided drawers)

  • Pull drawer to extend out to farthest point towards you.
  • With drawer supported in both hands lift up and then pull out.
  • To reinstall drawer tilt forward until the wheels are in the track and then gently push into place.

Soft Close (Blum tandem)

  • Look under the drawer and move orange levers to allow the drawer to pull straight out.
  • To reinstall just reverse above instructions.
